What is special about this course?

This course is ideal for students who wish to consider their options prior to specialising in child, health or social care. 

This course is available to study from our campuses in Thurso and Alness.

Entry requirements

School Leavers

  • At least 16 years of age and have a minimum of five Standard Grades at level 4 or above, or five National 4 qualifications, including 1 literary subject such as English, History, Geography, Psychology, Care or the equivalent
  • Satisfactory interview

Mature students

  • Relevant post school education and training
  • Satisfactory interview

Subjects include:

  • Care
  • Childcare and development
  • Psychology
  • Practical skills for caring
  • Work placement to develop vocational and employability skills
  • You will also develop core skills in IT, numeracy and communications
